The papers also include historical essays, n.d., on Peaks of Otter, Va., Andrew Lewis, Bedford County's role in the Civil War, the Baptist church in Bedford County, Va., and the Bell, Bufurd, Hatcher, and Jeter families of the region; and letter, 5 January 1922, from H.R. McIlwaine, Richmond, Va., to Mrs. George P. Parker, Bedford, Va., advising the Bedford County Pageant Association on historical research.
